Hong Kong Classic — 5-day city immersion tour

Hong Kong rewards the curious and overwhelms the unprepared. Our Classic tour threads the city's contrasts — colonial hilltops, neon-soaked markets, monastery silence, harbour skyline — into five days that feel complete without feeling rushed.

Day-by-day

Day 1 — Arrival and Kowloon orientation. Airport pickup by your Russian-speaking AMIST guide. Hotel check-in in Tsim Sha Tsui, then an afternoon stroll along the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade for the first harbour panorama. Evening dim sum introduction dinner in a local restaurant the guidebooks haven't discovered yet.

Day 2 — Victoria Peak and Hong Kong Island. Morning tram ride up to the Peak for city views from 428 metres. Afternoon on Hong Kong Island: the hillside escalator through SoHo, Hollywood Road antique galleries, Man Mo Temple. Sunset cocktails at a rooftop bar with the harbour behind you.

Day 3 — Lantau Island and the Big Buddha. Ferry to Lantau, then the Ngong Ping cable car to Tian Tan Buddha — at 34 metres one of the world's largest outdoor bronze Buddhas. Po Lin Monastery vegetarian lunch, afternoon in the traditional fishing village of Tai O built on stilts over the bay. Return by ferry at golden hour.

Day 4 — Kowloon deep dive. Morning at the Jade Market and Ladies' Market on Tung Choi Street. Lunch in a Michelin-listed dim sum house. Afternoon: the 1881 Heritage colonial complex, the Yau Ma Tei Fruit Market, Chi Lin Nunnery and its serene Tang-dynasty garden. Evening at Temple Street Night Market — fortune tellers, opera singers, and the city at its most local.

Day 5 — Departure. Morning Star Ferry crossing from Kowloon to Central — still the best ₽0 view in Asia. Optional last wander through PMQ design market. Airport transfer.

What's included / who it suits

This tour suits first-time Hong Kong visitors, couples, and travellers from Sakhalin or the Russian Far East who want a curated experience rather than independent navigation in an unfamiliar city. All transfers from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk included. Four nights at a 4-star hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui. Daily breakfast; welcome dinner; Lantau vegetarian lunch. All admission fees (Peak Tram, cable car, monastery). Russian-speaking AMIST guide from our local Hong Kong office throughout. Russian travel insurance.

• Departures: 6 fixed dates, April through October.
• From price: ₽59 000 per person (≈ $670) double occupancy. Single supplement on request.
• Group size: 4 to 10 guests. Private departures from 2 guests.
• Visas: Russian citizens do not require a visa for Hong Kong (stay up to 14 days). AMIST handles any required paperwork.
• Climate: April–May is warm and slightly hazy (22–27 °C). June–September is hot and humid with occasional typhoons; the tour operates with contingency plans. October is ideal: 24 °C, low humidity, clear skies.
• What to bring: light breathable clothing, comfortable walking shoes, a compact umbrella or rain jacket May–September.

Why we run it

AMIST opened its Hong Kong representation in 2011, making us one of the few Russian tour operators with a permanent local office in the city. Our guides are not fly-in contractors — they live in Hong Kong, know the neighbourhood restaurants, and can get a same-day reservation at a place that matters. The Classic is our gateway tour: most guests who travel with us to Hong Kong once come back for the Macau extension or the Guangzhou–Shenzhen circuit.
