About Sakhalin

Sakhalin is Russia's largest island, set in the Pacific off the eastern coast of Asia. It's a land of volcanoes, hot springs, lighthouses and extraordinary landscapes — where taiga meets the ocean and Japanese heritage blends with untamed wilderness.

Sakhalin stretches 948 km between the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Japan. Lighthouses, wild beaches, volcanic lakes, distinctive cuisine — nature and culture you won't find anywhere else in the world. Kuril Islands →

AMIST has been operating on Sakhalin since 2001. We know the island from the inside out — our guides are locals, our routes have been field-tested on hundreds of trips, and our logistics are polished down to the smallest detail.
