Aniva Lighthouse + Busse Oysters + Cape Evstafiy Jeep — 2-day Sakhalin combo
Two days, three southern Sakhalin landmarks — the lighthouse, oyster lunch, Cape Evstafiy
About the tour
Many travellers come to Sakhalin and still skip Cape Evstafiy — because it lies away from Aniva Lighthouse, and standard programmes force you to drive back from Busse to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and head out again next morning. This two-day route solves the problem differently: the overnight stays right by the lagoon, the next morning the 4×4 carries on along the eastern coast, and over two days you collect three points that are usually spread across three separate trips — Aniva Lighthouse, Busse oysters, and Cape Evstafiy with the Turquoise Lakes. The saving — almost five hours of return driving.
Two days split into two tasks: midday and evening of one day at the lighthouse and the lagoon; morning and day of the next, in the jeep to Evstafiy.
Day one: Aniva Lighthouse, oysters, overnight at the lagoon. Boat departure from Korsakov around midday, crossing to Cape Aniva under a warm coastal wind, about an hour at the lighthouse — a 1939 Japanese structure on a sheer rock, overgrown with copper patina and seaweed. On the way back — into Busse Lagoon: a saltwater lake connected to the Sea of Okhotsk by a narrow channel, where oysters have been farmed since the 1970s. For dinner they're served on the oyster island on the day they're harvested — with lemon, rye bread and a glass of white. The night is spent in a tent right by the water with mattress and sleeping bag, or in a warm cabin at the field base (chosen at booking).
Day two: jeep to Cape Evstafiy and the Turquoise Lakes. Early start from the lagoon — the 4×4 picks up the stony beach and coastal trails along the eastern shore. Cape Evstafiy is a roughly hundred-metre cliff above the Sea of Okhotsk; in clear weather the Zhdanko Ridge is visible toward Tikhaya Bay, and at the cliff base lies a tide-line strewn with shells, kelp and occasionally pre-war Japanese glass float fragments. The Turquoise Lakes are a chain of small saltwater lakes with a characteristic colour ranging from blue-green to turquoise; the shade holds thanks to trace minerals and plankton in the water. Return to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk by evening.
Group of up to eight, boat to the lighthouse, lunches, oyster dinner, accommodation at the lagoon (tent or cabin), 4×4 with experienced driver on day two — all included. Border zone permits for day two are processed in advance. Season: 26 April to 27 October — when the boat runs regularly to Aniva and the road to Evstafiy is passable.
Two days — three Sakhalin points in one go, no doubled-up driving: lighthouse on its rock, oysters straight from the water, Cape Evstafiy and the Turquoise Lakes the next morning. Guests come back with photos that don't need captions. We hold a fixed-rate contract with the boat owner; the lighthouse trip happens or we refund. Get in touch for current departure dates.

FAQ
Does the lighthouse trip depend on weather?
Yes — the sea voyage depends entirely on sea conditions. In bad weather, when going out to sea is impossible, the voyage is cancelled or replaced by an automobile tour.
What transport is used?
For the lighthouse trip — a PVC motorboat for 8–10 passengers. To the oyster bank — a catamaran. Transfer: 4×4 (2–3 guests), minibus (4–6) or coach (12–33 seats). Cape Evstafiy jeep tour — a prepared 4×4 vehicle.
Can I stay at a field base instead of a tent?
Yes — accommodation at the «Busse» field base is available in comfortable apartments (bedroom, living room, kitchenette, shower) for an extra fee — ₽3,500 per night for two guests.
What's on the lunch menu?
Wild oysters with lemon and our signature sauce, baked oysters with cheese and garlic, «Sakhalin Childhood» (seasonal fish in burdock leaves), seafood soup, fresh vegetables, fruit drink, tea/coffee. Lunch is served in comfortable tents on the lagoon shore.
