Winter Iturup 2026
About the tour
Three winter days on Iturup, designed around the Vannochki thermal pools and the active Baransky Volcano in the snow. Single sea-day on the Pacific side at Kasatka Bay, then back. The smallest, tightest of our Kuril winter routes — single jeep, single guide, three day-trips, four nights including travel.
Day one — flight to Iturup, transfer, then a full session at the famous Vannochki thermal pools on the slopes of Baransky Volcano. Closed wooden tubs under a roof, changing rooms and rest areas. Some pools are extremely hot — the operator recommends caution. Day two — jeep to the foot of Baransky Volcano: scenic volcanic landscapes, mud cauldrons, hot lakes and mineral streams. Then on to the Yankito lava plateau at the foot of Bogdan Khmelnitsky Volcano. In bad weather, the Baransky day is replaced by a SPA complex visit. Day three — Kasatka Bay on the Pacific side: a deserted scenic cove with Devil's Rock — sandstone pillars carved by Pacific storms. Flight from Kurilsk to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk in the evening.
Group of up to six, accommodation paid separately (Kasatka Guesthouse, Yuki, Komuy Kotan or Yankito Hotel — from ₽9,230 to ₽63,290 per night), all transfers, jeep, guide and thermal access included. Best season: January to March. Flights and ferry are weather-dependent — buffer days are recommended.
Three days — the shortest winter Iturup format we run, designed around the Vannochki pools and the volcano in snow. Flights and ferries to the island are weather-dependent — we recommend a buffer day on either side. Booking team handles dates; weather buffers are built into the quote.
